At the Foodhub, we regularly receive feedback from our groups and the community. When people take the time to write to us, we are especially delighted, and this particular thank you was greatly appreciated. All the feedback we receive reassures us that the efforts of our volunteers and paid team to rescue good surplus food are incredibly important. Additionally, teaching cooking skills and giving kids the opportunity to taste and try new foods is a wonderful bonus! The kind words also helped us through the busy Christmas season and have given us renewed focus for the New Year.
“I wanted to say a massive thank you for the food deliveries we have been getting at Belvidere school since September. They have enabled us to provide dozens of food packages for families in need, given breakfasts and lunches to hungry students on a daily basis and enabled dozens of underprivileged children the opportunity to cook in food tech class.
I have used so many of the fruits and vegetables for the pupils to practice their knife skills and the students have loved tasting the varieties of produce that you have provided. Some students had never tried a kiwi, blueberry or pineapple before, so it was wonderful to watch them try them for the first time. The bread has been made into pizza bases, French toast, bread and butter puddings, apple turnovers and made dozens of sandwiches for hungry tummies.
The large packs of flour, sugar, eggs and brownie mix have been used to develops baking skills and we even made 100s of cookies for a bake sale to provide extra props for our school play.
I cannot thank you guys enough for all of the hard work that goes into our deliveries. To see so many children discovering new foods, cooking and tasting has been wonderful!
Thank you so much!”
