Shrewsbury Food Hub is a small charity from a small town making a big impact.
Since April 2016, we have collected over 970 tonnes of good surplus food from supermarkets, manufacturers and farms and shared it with local charities and community groups saving them money so they can do more.
Our long serving Treasurer is stepping down and we are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced person to join our Board of Trustees in this role to help guide the Hub as we continue to grow to meet the increasing need for our work and look forward to exciting new opportunities ahead.
We are seeking someone with great organisational and financial management skills who can help keep the running of the Food Hub effective, working closely with our financial and fundraising staff team. We welcome applications from any of our volunteers. Whether you are an experienced Trustee or wishing to take your first steps in helping to run a charity, we want to hear from you.
As a Trustee, you will have opportunities to:
- Influence and shape the future direction of food redistribution and its effect on the environment in Shropshire
- Learn more the local food chain and its relevance to the community
We are looking for candidates that can help us:
- Create a more efficient administration of the charity
- Obtain the funding and resources we need to deliver our strategy
- Build an effective and sustainable charitable organisation
- Help to mobilise all the skills and experience of our volunteers and to be a voice for them
As a Trustee you will be responsible for:
- Ensuring good governance of the charity including statutory requirements
- Working with the board to make our meetings effective and that all decisions and actions are recorded accurately
- Contributing to our strategy
- Supporting our management team, staff and volunteers in delivering the charities aims and objectives
Being a trustee is a voluntary activity, but any expenses incurred will be reimbursed. It is expected that Trustees will spend at least three days per month supporting the charity, attending a minimum of four Trustee meetings per year.
